Roberto Mendoza Ayala
Roberto Mendoza Ayala, was born in Mexico and is a resident of New York City since 2012. In 1994, as a member of the Nautilium literary group, he obtained the FONCA Grant for creative writing.
He has published the following books of poetry: Las otras estaciones (1994), Negraluz (2004) and Ultrasonidos (2012). He has also published one book of short stories: Cerquita de Dios (2006).
His poems, stories and essays have been published in Mexican newspapers and national and international anthologies and magazines such as Letra Franca, Replicante, Salamandra, Generación Alternativa, And Then, Hybrido and Escape Wheel.
He regularly attends poetry workshops in New York City, including The Poetry Table, Riverside Library and Jefferson Market Library groups, writing poetry both in English and Spanish.
On 2015 he coordinated and translated the bilingual anthology De Neza York a Nueva York / From Neza York to New York, that combines the work of 25 poets from Mexico City and New York City.
Since 2016 he founded and directs Darklight Publishing, based in New York, where he also works as a designer and translator of bilingual editions of poetry books for American and Latin American authors.
