Leopoldo González
Leopoldo González (Michoacán, México, 1963) is a poet and essayist, political scientist and communicator. He has taught Literature, Comparative Political Science, Law and Investigative Journalism in various institutions in Mexico.
As a writer, his most recent books are: Hora temprana (UNAM, NaveLuz Collection, 2016), Cuando el tiempo se detuvo (Letra Franca, 2021), Prosas agualuna de la noche que se va (Letra Franca, 2021) and Vuelo de cisne sobre el Este (Silla Vacía Editorial-Letra Franca, 2023), which is part of the collection of poems Donde muere el verano.
As a political analyst, he participates in round tables and publishes a weekly article in La Voz de Michoacán, which is also published in Letra Franca, the magazine he founded and directs since 2012.
His work has received several awards: six for journalism, seven for poetry, two as an essayist and three for political analysis. In April 2023, the International Association of Writers and Poets “Arte y Cultura Hispana”, ARTE-PAX, based in Orlando, Florida, awarded him the International Award for Hispanic Letters.
He is a cultural official of the Penitentiary System of the State of Michoacán, where he has founded and coordinates thirteen literature workshops.
